Today is Koninginnedag, the Queen's official birthday (but not her actual birthday). It's a big holiday here, sort of like the Fourth of July in the U.S.

Knowing the bike paths would be busy, Simon and I headed out early, well by Dutch standards, and got in a short ride before things got crazy. We went NNE past the Keukenhof Gardens, turning back when we reached Hillegom. For most of the ride, we had either a headwind or a crosswind. Fun!

Most of the the tulip fields are done for the season, but there are still a few to see.
