Books Read in May and June 2008
I can offer two reasons for having such short reading lists in May and June: 1) the bus strike really cut into my reading time and 2) some of these books are quite long and/or dense*.
May
Jane Hamilton: The Short History of a Prince
Joe Hill: Heart-Shaped Box
Joyce Carol Oats: We Were the Mulvaneys*
Peter Ackroyd: Dan Leno & The Limehouse Golem
Sebastian Faulks: On Green Dolphin Street*
June
Sarah Dunant: In the Company of the Courtesan
Margaret Atwood: Bodily Harm
John Le Carré: The Perfect Spy*
Siri Hustvedt: What I Loved* -- This book is incredible -- great plot and character development and amazing diction. She has three other novels, and I intend to read them too. And she's married to Paul Auster, so that's just too much writing talent in one household.
