My Dæmon

Well, I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows yesterday. Loved it!

Now I'm living for film version of Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass (release date: 7 December 07).

Here's my dæmon:

Little Quacker

Yesterday around 6 pm, Piglet came by for a snack. Though I had often heard her quacking, I hadn't seen her for a few days. I now know who's been keeping Piglet busy.

It's July, and I'm Freezing

Today's high is 62F (16.6C), but I don't think the temperature will get there. It's cold and windy and will be rainy any moment now.

But it's not too cold for Piglet the Duck. How can such a small duck eat so much bread? And I'm not giving her empty-calorie Wonderbread. She's getting lovely multi-grain stuff. Today's selection was a pumpernickel with pumpkin seeds. She seemed happy with it, and that's all that matters.

And for a little North Carolina wildlife, here's one of the very bold squirrels that hang out on my aunt's deck and help themselves to birdseed.

Books Read in June 2007

Well, it's a short list this month. With less time on the bus and more time in NC, I didn't read as much as I usually do. And, The Little Drummer Girl took me a while. I'm glad, though, that I persevered.

Manil Suri: The Death of Vishnu
Ian Rankin: The Black Book
William Trevor: The Story of Lucy Gault
John Le Carré: The Little Drummer Girl
